History
Ziana has been in use for several years, especially considering the number of people suffering from acne.
Medical Uses
Ziana treats severe nodular acne in children 12 years old and adults. However, doctors also prescribe it for other off-label uses.
You place the drug on the affected skin and its surrounding areas. The ratio is 1.2% clindamycin phosphate and 0.025% tretinoin. The gel comes in varying amounts, namely, 2-gram, 30-gram, and 60-gram tubes, which should be stored away from heat and light sources, preferably at 77 degrees Fahrenheit.
Warning/Precaution
You shouldn’t apply Ziana to the mouth, nose, lips, or eyes. If the gel comes into contact with these areas, wash it off with water. You shouldn’t also apply it on broken, dry, irritated, wind-burned, or chapped skin.
The common side effects include redness, dryness, peeling, or itching. Photosensitivity, of high sensitivity to sunlight, can also happen.
Ziana is not for patients with Chron’s disease, ulcerative colitis, or enteritis (inflammation of the intestines). Also, your doctor won’t prescribe it if you have a history of severe diarrhea due to antibiotic use or if you’re on other contraindicated medications like erythromycin.
