Nexium was approved as a drug used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease. The FDA approved it as a proton pump inhibitor and was first marketed into the public in December 2013. A month after it was released, they later added it as a generic drug named esomeprazole strontium.
As mentioned, Nexium is a drug used to treat GERD or gastroesophageal reflux diseases and works by reducing the amount of acid that the stomach develops inside the body.
