History
Lovenox was first created in 1981 and approved by the FDA for medical use in 1993. It’s part of the World Health Organization’s list of essential medicines for being the safest and most effective drug in the health organization. It is also available in generic medication.
Medical Use
Lovenox has an expected bioavailability, distribution, and absorption; thus, monitoring is unnecessary. But, there are certain instances wherein special populations may need monitoring, like people with a kidney deficiency, overweight or obese.

- Light bruising, red or purple pinpoint spots under your skin.
- Black or bloody stools, coughing up blood, or vomit like coffee grounds.
- Sudden weakness, severe headaches, problems with balance, speech vision, and confusion.
- Difficulty in breathing.
- Unusual bleeding in the vagina, rectum, or nose.
- Bleeding from wounds or needle injections that don’t stop.
- Pale skin
- Feeling lightheaded, shortness of breath, trouble concentrating, rapid or too fast, and heart rate.
Some common Lovenox side effects may include:
- Swelling in your feet and hands.
- Mild pain, redness, irritation, or swelling at the injection spot.
- Diarrhea and nausea.
