Humira, also known as ADALIMUMAB, is a drug that reduces the side effects of a substance causing your body inflammation. This inflammation usually refers to juvenile idiopathic arthritis, chronic skin conditions like hidradenitis suppurativa, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, plaque psoriasis, or ankylosing spondylitis. Aside from curing arthritis, it also cures ulcerative colitis or Crohn’s disease. However, a doctor will only prescribe it after all other drugs have been unsuccessful.

History
The Humira drug, known as the adalimumab, is the first human monoclonal antibody approved by the US drug and food administration. A collaboration between the BASF bioresearch corporations and Cambridge Antibody Technology created this drug in 1993.
Medical Uses
Humira is used to treat swelling and pain that you can get from certain types of arthritis (as referred to above). Aside from alleviating pain in your body due to severe inflammation, it also cures many skin disorders. It works by blocking a protein such as TNF or tumor necrosis factor found in the body’s immune system. This blockage causes the joints to swell up and damage, thus causing arthritis and red scaly skin or patches.
This drug belongs under a classification of drugs called TNF blockers. It helps reduce further damage and soothes your joints’ function correctly.
Warnings/ Precaution

It may contain inactive ingredients, like latex or rubber, which can cause you to itch and get allergies. Also, if you have any current infections, taking this drug may cause them to get worse. Consult your doctor if you have a present allergy that needs treatment.
